About UNHCR:

The Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR; French: Haut Commissariat des Nations unies pour les réfugiés) (also known as the UN Refugee Agency) is a United Nations programme with the mandate to protect refugees, forcibly displaced communities and stateless people, and assist in their voluntary repatriation, local integration or resettlement to a third country.

UNHCR was created in 1950, during the aftermaths of World War II. Its headquarters are in Geneva, Switzerland and it is a member of the United Nations Development Group. The UNHCR has won two Nobel Peace Prizes, once in 1954 and again in 1981 and a Prince of Asturias Awards for International Cooperation in 1991. (Wikipedia)

Agenda: Addressing the current refugees and internally-displaced persons (IDPs) crisis in the Middle East, Europe, and other regions of the world:

The 1951 Geneva Convention Relating to the Status of Refugees, signed by 147 countries, defines a refugee as a person who flees from their country because they have a “well-founded fear of being persecuted” due to their race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group or political opinion. Refugees are forced to leave their country, because their life is in danger, while migrants make a conscious decision for economic or other reasons. Refugees have a distinct legal status and need international protection.

The Syrian Civil war has resulted in the largest refugee crises the world has seen since World War II. Since the beginning of the protests stemming from the Arab Spring in March 2011, over three million Syrians have fled the country, while another 6.5 million have been internally displaced. Although internally displaced persons (IDPs) do not fall under the original mandate of the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), it has expanded the scope of its work to address the protection needs of IDPs as well as best able.

UNHCR encounters difficulties when helping IDPs, who remain under the authority of their state, which is why, despite their best efforts, often refugees are the beneficiaries of UNHCR’s efforts. The involvement of UNHCR in Syria has been the agency’s largest operation yet. The Syrian refugee crisis has grave implications in the region, since most of the three million people who have crossed Syria’s borders are now dispersed throughout neighboring countries. The situation has become a particular burden for the five main host countries, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, and Turkey, as hosting Syrian refugees has overstretched their infrastructures and budgets. The living conditions of Syrian refugees are often poor, as 16% of them live in camps, while the remaining 84% live primarily in urban areas, where they are more vulnerable to arrest, exploitation and do not have access to or resources for food and housing.

In the other hand there are lots of refugees dying in the procedure of migrating from Syria to EU and after reaching to the borders there is also a very big chance that they will not get accepted inside the border and of accepted there Is another factors which are safety, Logistics, Food and last but not the least Citizenship permit. Not only Middle East Suffering from Refugees blood there is also Rohingya Refugees who have flees from Myanmar because their life is being intervene because they are Muslims.
